The Marineland Portrait 5 gallon nano aquarium is definitely a great buy. I purchased one of these for my ten year old daughter for her first aquarium and was very impressed. The led light that comes with it is sufficient enough to make your nano fish look good and also includes a blue led moon light setting which looks great at night! The light however is not powerful enough for growing plants so if that’s your goal you’re in luck. You can take off the light that comes with it and replace it with a clip on light such as a finnex stingray or planted plus. I tried this out myself so I know it works just fine!
I did make an adjustment to the filtration which I highly recommend doing. The aquarium comes with a carbon cartridge that would need to be replaced continuously about every two weeks which is totally a waste of money. What I did was cut a course section of filter media to fit the space where the cartridge would have gone and that way you don’t need to constantly purchase replacement filters which is totally a money grab. When it’s time to clean the filter just pull it out and rinse it out in aquarium water and put it back in and you are good to go!
This Fluval Spec V is another amazing Fluval product. It’s a 5 gallon nano aquarium that comes with excellent filtration and lighting for growing plants. A perfect size for an office, desk, counter top or kids room to look stunning and provide great quality viewing of your nano fish. Definitely a great buy and a step up from the Marine Land 5 gallon aquarium. This however does not have a moonlight setting but the light is definitely powerful enough to grow most plants!
I really do love Fluval products, I feel they are pretty high quality and this all in one nano aquarium is right up there. If you are looking for an all in one nano aquarium that comes with a cool light to grow plants and is fully adjustable to change colors and affects then you should highly consider one of these. This aquarium set-up is just a totally awesome product right out of the box. It has great filtration and lights all built in and is perfect for nano fish. If you want a high quality set-up then get one of these. They come in 9 gallon or 15 gallon but I personally recommend the 15 gallon. These are awesome and I don’t think you will be disappointed!
If you are new to saltwater and looking to get your feet wet so to speak, then this Fluval marine nano aquarium kit is a great start for beginners. It’s a 13.5 gallon tank that looks amazing and has the lighting capable of maintaining corals. Your nano fish will look great and the filtration will get the job done.
